I’m used to seeing Jesus wash the disciples’ feet as a beautiful moment in a film or a painting – with clean white towels! I suspect it was a pretty grotty job – one which, understandably, the disciples felt was ‘below’ their master, Jesus. Were they right? What message was Jesus trying to convey.
