When we don’t understand
I once asked a friend how to do a repair to something that was wrong with my car. It’s easy he said and rattled off the instructions. The first thing I had to do was undo the securing bolt but all my spanners failed to reach into the bolt or were the wrong size. So, I couldn’t get started. Apparently, you needed a special tool designed just for that purpose. ‘Everyone knew that’, he said – except I didn’t and of course I didn’t have one. His answer was accurate, but I couldn’t fully understand enough.
Sometimes when we ask questions of God we don’t fully understand the answer we get. But that shouldn’t stop us asking more questions because it’s only by asking questions we can grow in understanding. And we may still find there is more to learn.
