Luke’s gospel is remarkable in many ways. In the first chapters we are introduced to: angels appearing (repeatedly); the Holy Spirit at work in unexpected ways; and women front and central in God’s plans and purposes. There is also a great deal of singing:

Mary, Zechariah, and a host of angels. Their joy cannot be contained.

Luke intends that we too overflow with joy.
