On Hold

Most of us will have had the experience of making a ‘phone call where you are put on hold. A voice says ‘Thank you for phoning your call is very important to us as we care about you.’ And then follows 45 minutes of jingle music punctuated by the same message. Sometimes we give up, sometimes we persevere. But I suspect we would give up much quicker without the music background for at least we feel connected. Hanging on in silence would be very difficult. So what happens when we dial the Almighty and seem to be put on hold?
