Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall…

How do you see yourself? Or perhaps more importantly, how do others perceive you? Do you want to come over as strong and decisive? Or perhaps cool and trendy? Many people really strive to present an image of themselves. We have even taken to wearing the label of our clothes on the outside because the ‘logo’ we wear says something about who we think we are. Images can be very powerful but is the image any match for reality? Institutions often struggle to preserve the image of themselves they want people to believe. When it is not a true image it can backfire badly as the Post Office and the Church of England have recently found out.  Images were just as powerful as symbols in Paul’s day, and he makes some sweeping assertions about them.
