Sunday Service 17th August 2025
King Darius thought highly of Daniel and put him in positions of influence due to his competence and integrity but others were jealous. They came up with a plan to devise a new law to catch Daniel out. They played on the King’s pride into passing a law requiring everyone to bow down and worship a statue of the King. Daniel continued to pray in public to the real God and not the King’s statue. His punishment was to be thrown into the lion’s enclosure. The King did not sleep that night and, early in the morning, went to the enclosure and called out to Daniel asking whether his God had saved him. Daniel replied and the King was overjoyed. He punished Daniel’s detractors. Daniel is one of the witnesses that we are surrounded by.
Can we say of ourselves the old chorus:
”Dare to be a Daniel
Dare to stand alone
Dare to have a purpose true
Dare to make it known”
Will I, will you, dare to be a Daniel this week?
