Sunday Service 16th October 2022
“Who should I compare myself with? When we confess our sin we are comparing ourself with the standards that Jesus showed in life and death not any human comparison. As a nation we are not blessed with great self confidence. We bump into someone who is using their phone as they walk along the pavement and we say sorry when it was as much their fault as ours. This can spill over into our Christian life especially if we are asked to confess our sins every week without really thinking in advance and confessing genuine sins. What standard is Jesus asking of you and me when the Great Day comes, when I am called to account for my life. Our passage speaks in verse 5 that he was crushed for our iniquities and in verse 6 that the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Jesus bore your sins. Jesus has paid the price of your and my sin and we will stand before him as followers of the Lord Jesus, forgiven people, accepted as children of our Heavenly Father, good enough for our reserved place in Heaven.”
