This Sunday, Mothering Sunday, we remember those who, in history, would return to their “Mother Church” during the season of Lent. The image of Christ’s Church providing a nurturing and encouraging place in which to grow in faith could be drawn from our reading in Isaiah, where the prophet speaks of God’s love for God’s people being like that of a mother.
