All Together Service 6th August 2023
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
These words appear in a Parable told by Jesus.
The words are spoken by a King who cares deeply for his subjects. He expects his people to care for one another as he has cared for them. He told his subjects that when they ignore the needs of those around them, they ignore him too.
Jesus warned us that we all have the responsibility to care for those around us and we will explore this on Sunday.
The irony was that Jesus would soon experience all those things associated with poverty, but his audience were oblivious to this possibility.
When we say ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison?’ God answers: “On the cross”.
